Bamboo care and maintenance

Bamboo Plants grow best in full to partial sun and moist soil that is not swampy. Keep your Bamboo Plants away from wet areas since they will not thrive. Your Bamboo Plant is actually a warm-weather annual grass and thrives best when it’s warm outside. You should plant your Bamboo Plant at the same time you would establish other warm-weather annuals such as zinnia, portulaca, and coleus.

Ensure the soil is moist yet not wet. Prepare the soil for planting by mixing 6 to 8 inches of native soil with your choice of fertilizer in all-purpose garden soil in a 50:50 ratio. This will supply your Bamboo Plants with the structure and nutrients it requires for good growth.

 

Plant your Bamboo Plant in prepared soil, making sure not to bury the crown or base of the plant directly above the roots. Proper spacing between your Bamboo Plants depends on the variety you choose. Small clumping Bamboo Plants can be spaced 2-3 feet apart, while larger clumping plants require 6- to 8-foot spacing. Water thoroughly, and mulch around the plants to keep the soil evenly moist. You must water your Bamboo Plants twice a week for a few weeks while establishing since Bamboo Plants have a shallow root system and require regular water throughout the growing season, especially if there is a lack of rain. Once established, give your Bamboo Plants an inch of water per week.

Bamboo Plants come in two types: running types and clumping types. The better choice for planting in your home garden is clumping Bamboo Plants since they only increase 1 to 4 inches in diameter yearly and spread in a manageable way. Some Bamboo Plant types can realize 20 or 30 feet tall, while other species are good as small shrubs in your home garden landscape. Always check the Bamboo Plant tag for cold hardiness and height information. Bamboo Plants are heavy eaters and require fertilizer to grow efficiently. Beginning fertilizing one month after planting, as per the directions on the label of the product you choose.

We dig fresh our plants and ship immediately. We ship US Mail, Priority shipping. You will receive a tracking number once your plants ship. All plants will be fine in their packages for up to 3 days after receiving.

How We Protect Your Plants For Transit

We sell only bare root plants. We dip the roots in tera-sorb silicone gel to retain ample moisture for transit and surround with plastic. This is superior protection for plants in transit for up to 12 days.

Upon Receipt Of Your Plants

Open your plants and inspect the same day received. We offer 3 days to report any problems with your order. Bare root plants need to be planted within 2-3 days of receiving unless weather-related problems prohibit planting. Store in a cool place and keep roots moist and covered with plastic until they can be planted. Water for the first week daily after planting.
