Blue Grama Grass 25 Plants $79.99 Description

Blue Grama Grass actively grows during the summer when soil temperatures are warm.

The blue, native variety of Grama Grass is easy to care for and resilient in the landscape. Put this attractive ornamental grass to work as a groundcover, accent, or windbreak. This grass is a warm-season grass; it actively grows during the summer when soil temperatures are warm. It will reach just 1' with attractive blue seed heads left unmowed.

It is a warm-season, clump-forming, native grass. It displays blue seed heads left unmowed.

Blue Grama Grass is also drought tolerant and requires less watering once established.

A hardy bunch! This plant is hardy to the high 20s, making it very cold-tolerant. Clump-forming grasses produce a better-looking lawn than spreading or creeping varieties. It is also drought tolerant and requires less watering once established, leaving you more time to relax instead of laboring in the yard.

This grass is a drought-tolerant and versatile grass used in many landscape areas. Some locals call it "weed grass" because, unlike most other grasses, it will grow in poorly drained soils—the same soil that causes other grasses to die from poor drainage. This species needs minimal irrigation because it is a warm-season grass; it grows actively only during the summer months when the frost has melted and temperatures are above 70°F. That means watering your grass during fall and winter is not necessary. Once established, it spreads by underground rhizomes, forming a clumpy turf. It can be used in any area where other grasses would do well: along roadsides and ditches, in rock or gravel gardens, or as a border along with other areas of the yard where you would like to add hardy but attractive landscaping.

Native across the southwestern region of the U.S., this grass is warm-season grass, making it a perfect selection for gardeners in mild-winter climates. It displays slender, delicate leaves up to 1' long and greenish heads that grow at heights of about 1' to 2'.
