Broom Sedge thrives in zones 3 through 9

The plant is commonly seen in the northern states, such as Montana, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania. However, the plant can be seen as far south as Nevada's lower areas and the eastern regions of North Carolina.

Bloom Season  - Broom Sedge typically begins growing in late August or in the early days of September. Depending on the growing conditions, the plant usually blooms throughout September and into October. Our plants receive the best care possible, which generally results in blooms seen in August.

Bloom Color - Although Broom Sedge is a member of the grass family, the leaves and the plant stems have a beautiful reddish-brown color when the plant begins growing. The top portion of the plant is usually darker than the lower half.

Broom Sedge can grow anywhere between two and four feet tall, depending on the amount of water the plant receives and the amount of sunshine.

The type of soil can also impact the height of the plant.

Soil Type Preferred- Since Broom Sedge grows in multiple zones, it can tolerate various soil types. It thrives in soil that is loose and sandy. The plant also grows well in moist soil.

Sun or Shade - Even though Broom Sedge prefers to be in full sunlight for its shallow roots to thrive, it can grow in partial shade if there is enough moisture.

Plant Description- Broom Sedge grows in small clumps close to the ground, with mature plants reaching four feet. That is a grass often seen during the fall season and grows well with other grass types. The distinctive reddish-brown tops of the grass make it easy to see in fields.
