Carex Appalachica Fast Shipping and Lowest Pieces

Carex appalachica is a clump-forming perennial plant with narrow grass-like arching leaves. Plants spread slowly and gradually form colonies; Leaves are 12 to 18 inches long and less than 1/8 inch wide. The leaves are gray-green on the upper surface and pale green beneath. They grow in a spreading, arching, or drooping posture. Plants are only 6 inches tall, allowing the leaves to dramatically arch and drape on the ground.

It is also known as Appalachian sedge or Appalachian Sedge. This grass should be planted in full sun to part shade. It grows well in moist soil, including wetlands. It does best in rich, moist soils but will tolerate dry soil fairly well if drainage is good. Uses include accent, massing, naturalizing, rain gardens, stream, and pond edges.

Plants form colonies over time as they spread slowly and gradually. Carex appalachica has been successfully grown in north-central Ohio. It has been consistently winter hardy at Zone 5 north (and likely colder) in these conditions, creating an excellent ground cover plant. Each year new stems emerge from underground roots wherever water collects or from where water splashes up during rains. These new stems are generally slower growing than last year's stems and aren't always as well-formed.

Carex Appalachica Is a Great Addition to Any Yard

This grass-like sedge has a textured green and brown glaucous color for contrasting plants and textures. This clumping evergreen stays under 12" with dense growth, making it great for the waterfall edge or in mass plantings.

It should be planted in masses. The wider, the better, with each clump, spaced 3′ to 5′ apart.
Carex appalachica is a native of the Appalachian mountain regions. This Carex can be found forming dense clumps in rich forests.

Carex, in general, is known for its ability to purify water and soil and make beautiful outdoor decor naturally.

These stunning foliage plants can be used in rock gardens, low maintenance borders, or groundcover in shaded areas. It forms beautiful grass-like mounds flowing down slopes with its narrow arching leaves.
