We dig fresh our plants and ship immediately. We ship US Mail, Priority shipping. You will receive a tracking number once your plants ship. All plants will be fine in their packages for up to 3 days after receiving.

How We Protect Your Plants For Transit

We sell only bare root plants. We dip the roots in tera-sorb silicone gel to retain ample moisture for transit and surround with plastic. This is superior protection for plants in transit for up to 12 days.

Upon Receipt Of Your Plants

Open your plants and inspect the same day received. We offer 3 days to report any problems with your order. Bare root plants need to be planted within 2-3 days of receiving unless weather-related problems prohibit planting. Store in a cool place and keep roots moist and covered with plastic until they can be planted. Water for the first week daily after planting.

Dewberry Plant is hardy in zones 3 through 8

This plant has fine spines all over its stems. The stems are also described as red-haired. This plant grows to be about 2 feet tall. It is relatively easy to care for and requires very minimal attention. The soil's pH level should be 5 to 7. The soil should also be well-drained or loamy. They require partial sunlight and start flowering from June to September. These plant's USDA Hardiness Zone 3 to 8. After the plant grows a couple of inches, it may need fertilizing. It takes up to 4 years for these plants to grow enough mature fruit. They are a part of the Rubus genus, which has over 250 different species.

These plants are often looked at as an annoying weed but has many uses. The leaves from this plant are sometimes used to make tea. The berries are often mistaken for blackberries and raspberries. Blackberries are smaller, less acidic, and sweeter.  Dewberries ripen 1 to 10 weeks quicker than blueberries as well. These berries are safe to eat and could be consumed raw. Many people use the berries to make pie, cobbler, jam, jelly, and wine. The berries start small and green, then turn red and dark purple; The berries have many nutritional values. They are a good source of carbs, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and Vitamin B.
