Hepatica Nobilis 4 For $16.99 Description

Hepatica Nobilis

Hepatica Nobilis, as it is known botanically, is also called Liverleaf.

This plant is an early-blooming perennial wildflower and a member of the buttercup family. Its petite, delicate flowers are commonly a bright blue or lavender, yet they also come in white or pink shades. Hepatica Noblis have one flower per stem, yet each plant bears several stems. This plant also forms in clumps. Once established, Hepatica Noblis is low-maintenance and hardy. This plant bears leaves during its dormant period, providing bronze shades during the winter.

Hepatica nobilis care and maintenance

Hepatica Noblis grows best in partially shady conditions since the plant requires some sunlight for its flowers to open fully. Hepatica Nobilis thrives in various soil conditions yet does best in particularly heavy, moist, well-drained soil. This plant is not drought tolerant, so if you have a dry spell, you must water it, yet do not allow it to be in standing water. Mulching your Hepatica Noblis will help to retain moisture.

Hepatica Noblis prefers humid conditions, so during its first year, this plant benefits from being grown in a greenhouse in winter in moist soil be kept moist. Planting in the summer, it'll give your Hepatica Noblis a chance to get established before cooler temperatures, and garden nutrients collected by this plant in the summer will create impressive blooms.

Considerations

Hepatica Noblis forms a small, dome-shaped plant bearing 3-lobed foliage. Star-like flowers emerge above the dark green leaves. This plant is a good option for planting near tree bases, in rock garden crevices, or in a damp woodsy section of your home garden. Hepatica Noblis will bloom rapidly during February and March, adding color to your garden when most other plants are just beginning to bloom. The flowers tend to appear during February and March.

This plant looks terrific with other woodland plants such as Arisaema, Dicentra, Ferns, or Pulmonaria. Lovely addition to your woodland or rock garden, Hepatica Noblis is a terrific choice to keep beautiful blooming colors in your life all year.
