Hard Stem Bulrush 25 Plants $79.99 Description

Square Stem Bulrush

Square Stem Bulrush or Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani, as it is known botanically, is also called great bulrush.

Native to the United States and Eurasia, Square Stem Bulrush grows where water accumulates, making it a perfect choice for your water garden landscape. Square Stem Bulrush is a hardy perennial wildflower that can grow between 2 and 9 feet tall. This plant bears a thick green culm, or hollow shaft, with a delicate cluster of orange-brown flowers that mature into a hard brown seed fruit that appears in May and remains until September. Square Stem Bulrush appears curvy and can spread more than four feet on its outer edge. The inflorescence of this plant arches downward, making it look adorable, especially when a breeze is blowing. The Square Stem Bulrush stems feel like a sponge when compressed.

Care and Maintenance

.Square Stem Bulrush is an ideal candidate for those who have a pond or want to create a water feature in their garden landscape. Square Stem Bulrush loves the sun, although it can tolerate partial shade. Square Stem Bulrush plants spread rapidly, creating new plants without any work on your part. Plant Square Stem Bulrush close to each other, a little less than one foot apart, to create a sensational wall of vibrant green color. Square Stem Bulrush has deep roots, making it excellent for garden areas where controlling erosion is needed. This plant enjoys silty or peat-based soils, though it will tolerate many soil types that are well drained and kept moist.

Considerations

In the correct planting conditions, Square Stem Bulrush will blossom as early as May. Small wildlife and waterfowl love to hide amongst this plant's stems. Place your Square Stem Bulrush among other flowering grass-type perennials that may grow shorter than this plant. Square Stem Bulrush is a unique option as a container plant.

Square Stem Bulrush should be a top consideration as an addition to your water garden landscape or as a filler near ponds or near marshy areas.

Square Stem Bulrush plants are now available For Sale at TN Wholesale Nursery with Low Prices and Fast Shipping.
