New York Fern 5 For $18.99 Description

New York Fern

New York Fern, scientifically known as the Thelypteris noveboracensis, is a woodland perennial native to and found in the eastern United States.

A forest plant primarily thrives well along streams and in wet areas. New York Fern is a terrific choice for your woodland or natural wetlands garden. Sturdy and easy to propagate, New York Ferns make a beautiful addition to outdoor spaces where ground cover is needed. Being a perennial, the New York Fern will bloom all year long, showcasing a verdant green color. Growing in dense, light green clumps, the pants leaves are broad in the middle and tapered at the base end of the stalk, giving the New York Fern a delicate lacy appearance.

New york fern care and maintenance

The New York Fern matures best in full to partial shade, though they can handle a bit more sunlight as long as the soil stays moist. They also prefer more acidic soil and do well near naturally damp areas like wetlands gardens or near a garden pond. The New York Fern also looks elegant in garden containers for a decorative touch.

New York Ferns do not usually do not exceed 2 feet in height; however, their fronds spread out quite a bit. New York Ferns can be invasive, yet with the correct care and cultivation, they create a sublime “carpet” of soft, leafy fronds that beautify any landscape. The New York Fern prospers in most climates since its low light and soil requirements.

Considerations

Toads enjoy the New York Fern as a habitat so planting a grouping near your garden pond or stream is ideal. New York ferns spread and can overtake other plants. Divide the roots to thin them out, then transfer your other plants to other garden areas. The New York Fern spreads less in hot, dry conditions.

The hardy New York fern will continue to bloom for many years.

As a result, the New York Fern will enjoy a garden wetland that other plants may find challenging to thrive in, adding beauty and interest to your home garden.
