We dig fresh our plants and ship immediately. We ship US Mail, Priority shipping. You will receive a tracking number once your plants ship. All plants will be fine in their packages for up to 3 days after receiving.
We sell only bare root plants. We dip the roots in tera-sorb silicone gel to retain ample moisture for transit and surround with plastic. This is superior protection for plants in transit for up to 12 days.
Open your plants and inspect the same day received. We offer 3 days to report any problems with your order. Bare root plants need to be planted within 2-3 days of receiving unless weather-related problems prohibit planting. Store in a cool place and keep roots moist and covered with plastic until they can be planted. Water for the first week daily after planting.
The Carex Pensylvanica is a grass-like herbaceous plant.
It has triangular stems and concealed flowers. The Carex Pensylvanica belongs to the Cyperaceae family of plants and is a shade-loving perennial sedge native to North America. Another name for the Carex Pensylvanica is the Oak Sedge because it is commonly found near or under oak trees. This plant grows in eastern regions of North America and other like-temperature regions across the globe. Cultivated for its beauty, the Carex Pensylvnaica grows to a height of 2 feet and spreads to .04 to .12 inches. Its rhizomes are creeping root stalks that bear new shoots that grow up and horizontally. The Carex Pensylvanica, at its maturity, is invasive and forms dense mats. This plant grows best in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil. Spreading slowly, it will create a turf-like floor that grows through its lush, evergreen leaves, growing 3 – 6 inches a year and bearing graceful leaves that arch. When arranged in a cluster, the Carex Pensylvanica provides an alternative aesthetic carpet design as ground cover. <h2><span>
Care and Maintenance
Pensylvanica Sedge plant comes in clusters containing razor-sharp beautifully colored (reddish-purple) staminate scale (stem) and dark brown to purple-black pistillate scales with green and white borders alternative ground cover that is natural lush picturesque. It experiences its best exotic blooms in the spring, from April to June, and sometimes into July. The Pensylvanica Sedge requires full sun and partial shade, which means that it should not be in the sun during the afternoon. It has a low maintenance rate, does not need over-watering, and requires low-rate fertilizers. The Pensylvanica Sedge's green turf needs no mowing yet can be mowed 2 to 3 times. Per year once it reaches 2 inches tall. There are no serious diseases or insect issues. The Pensylvanica Sedge can adapt to many seasonal changes as a dormant plant.
